Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) has a strong history of leadership and advocacy that dates back to 1954. The founding members were passionate about improving care for elder Floridians and recognized that their ability to shape public policy would be greatly enhanced by the creation of a statewide organization that brought together like-minded individuals. Today, FHCA is a federation representing more than 1,000 members and more than 500 facilities that provide skilled nursing, post-acute and sub-acute care, short-term rehabilitation, assisted living and other services to the frail elderly and individuals with disabilities in Florida. The Safety 1st Volunteer Screening Program is only available through a select group of background screening companies who have a deep understanding of volunteer and non-profit organizations. The purpose of the Safety 1st Volunteer Screening Program is to aid volunteer and non-profit organizations and agencies in determining whether prospective volunteers have a pattern of criminal behavior that would make it unwise for them to be working with children or other vulnerable populations.
